Trailer Watch: The Total Recall theatrical trailer is ridiculously awesome.

A full trailer for Len Wiseman’s Total Recall is up, and while there’s the ever-present fear (these days) that the trailer is showing too many of the awesome bits, I love the shit out of it. I think I’ll be avoiding anything else about this movie so that I can actually it when I see it in theaters. Checkitout:

Now, I was on board with this flick from the teaser trailer, but how about you fence-sitters (or nay-sayers)? Has this won any of you over?

Total Recall stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, and John Cho. It opens August 3rd.

Trailer Watch: Ben Affleck’s Argo international trailer

Ben Affleck’s based-on-a-true-story thriller Argo, “the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.” After the one-two punch of Gone Baby Gone and The Town, I’ll go anywhere with Affleck, but this looks exceptional.

The film stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Kerry Bishé, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, and many, many more. It hits theaters October 10, 2012 — just close enough to Oscar season to stay fresh in everybody’s mind, but early enough to not get drowned out by Flight, Life of Pi, Skyfall, The Hobbit, Twilight, Django Unchained, This Is 40, and Kathryn Bigelow’s still-untitled Osama Bin Laden movie.

(Thanks to Twitch for the heads up, as well as the embed, obviously.)

Trailer Watch: Total Recall trailer

I’m a little late to the party with this trailer because of ECCC, which hit yesterday, but ho-leee crap. Colin Farrell makes me forget all about the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger/Paul Verhoeven cheese-fest of the same name with the trailer for their version of Total Recall. The new film, directed by Len Wiseman, supposedly sticks a bit closer to the Philip K. Dick short story, “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.”

I realize Len Wiseman also did the first two Underworld flicks, which should temper my unquenchable thirst for intelligent sci-fi action flicks, but this looks great. For what it’s worth, Wiseman didn’t write the script for this, unlike with Underworld. He also did Live Free or Die Hard, though I never saw that one. This new version is from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer (Street Kings, Equilibrium, Salt) and Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Unstoppable, The Wolverine)… so… uh… hm. I guess we’ll find out when the whole film comes on August 3.

The official synopsis follows after the break…

Trailer Watch: Red Tails TV spot

Spike TV’s SCREAM Awards 2011 premiered a “trailer” last night for the George Lucas-produced Red Tails. Looked at as a trailer, it’s terrible: the music is way out of place for the era and subject, and it says nothing about the story or the characters, but there’s a pretty good amount of footage in it that’s worth seeing, I think. So there’s that.

Directed by Anthony Hemingway from a screenplay by John Ridley (based on a story by executive producer George Lucas) and starring Bryan Cranston, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Daniela Rush, and Michael B. Jordan, Red Tails soars into theaters on January 20, 2012.

Trailer Watch: George Lucas’s Red Tails

It’s been over two years since Red Tails started filming, and finally, we have a trailer. If you’re fine with all the CGI dogfighting (and I am), I think you’ll agree it’s a strong trailer, and it should make for a fun flick.

This fictionalized story of the Tuskegee Airmen is directed by Anthony Hemingway, from a screenplay by John Ridley (based on a story by executive producer George Lucas), and stars Bryan Cranston, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Daniela Rush, and Michael B. Jordan.

Here’s the official synopsis (via Twitch):

1944. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options – including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies to fight for their country – and the fate of the free world.

The film is currently targetting a January 2012 release.
