Trailer Watch: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy theatrical trailer

This is my most anticipated, must-see movie of 2011′s Oscarbait season:

If you haven’t been keeping track of this movie, be sure to watch the earlier international and (domestic) teaser trailers I’ve posed before.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is based on the John LeCarré novel. Adapted for the screen by Bridget O’Connor and Peter Straughan, and directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In), this $30 million film version boasts an incredible cast, including Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciarán Hinds, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, and John Hurt.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy hits theaters (in the US) on December 9th. It opens in the UK next weekend, on September 16th.

Trailer Watch: Absolutely brutal red band trailer for The Raid

Courtesy the MTV Movies Blog, here’s an impressively action-packed, very red band trailer for Welsh director Gareth Huw Evans’ The Raid, starring “Indonesian martial arts sensation” Iko Uwais, Doni Alamsyah, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian and Ray Sahetapy.

Here’s the official synopsis (via Coming Soon):

Deep in the heart of Jakarta’s slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world’s most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building’s lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city’s worst to survive their mission.

This is maaaaybe not safe for work, because of its awesomeness, so keep that in mind.

The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday and unfortunately doesn’t have a release date yet anywhere outside of Indonesia (where it’s out in January), but Sony does have the US distribution rights. Also, if your interest has been piqued, check out the trailer for Evans and Uwais’ previous film, Merantau, over at YouTube.

Multiplex #107 1/2: Christmas Cheer

Finally getting back into the swing of things and back to work on Book 2. There have been more than a few moving-related headaches in the last month, which I won’t get into here, but I’ve had less time than you would expect of a barely-employed (for the last month!) freelancer.

Anyway, this strip takes place before Multiplex #108 from the archives (which of course lead into another bonus comic that I’ve posted already). A little note for Jane Austen fans (and Becky/Jason hopefuls): Jason’s line in panel 3 is a quote from the Ang Lee/Emma Thompson Sense & Sensibility, which Becky just-so-happens to be watching in the other bonus comic.
