Trailer Watch: Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service

Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons comic The Secret Service stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton, and Samuel L. Jackson. The comic is more than a little like if Wanted was about super-spies instead of super-villains, but it translates into a lot of cool, raw material for a fun action flick. And this looks a hell of a lot better than the Wanted movie (or Kick-Ass, for that matter — Vaughn’s earlier Millar movie).

Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theaters on October 24 — obviously gunning for some Oscar nominations, with that release date. (That’s a joke.)

Trailer: Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar full trailer

Wow.

My big complaint about Christopher Nolan is that his films have been emotionally very cold. This looks like a complete 180˚ in that department. Interstellar shoots for the stars on November 7, 2014.

Trailer Watch: Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar teaser trailer

I have no idea what this is about.

I got chills, anyway. I love NASA.

Interstellar hits theater in November 2014.

Trailer Watch: The third Dark Knight Rises trailer

Up until the apparently obligatory (these days) tag at the end, this is a pretty moody, ominous trailer. I feel like studios force trailer cutters to add those things at the end. For lighter action flicks, sometimes it can be a fun little “hey also” to put in at the end, but here, it’s just tacked on, and considering we’ve already seen the flying whatever-it-is (I guess they just call it “the Bat”) earlier in the trailer, it’s kind of pointless.

But whatever. The movie itself looks as promising as it always has — I’m guessing everybody reading this is already on-board or not, and nothing Warner Brothers can show to us now is really gonna sway that. The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20th, 2012.
