Trailer Watch: Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark red band trailer (plus clip)

Check out the new red band trailer for producer Guillermo del Toro and director Troy Nixey’s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark below. I might just be a big baby about teeth trauma, but this one creeps me out waaay more than the earlier trailer. (Don’t ever bring up American History X with me.)

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark opens tomorrow, August 26, 2011, in the US.

The synopsis and a link to a clip from the film can be found after the jump:

Trailer Watch: Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

One of Guillermo del Toro umpty-million producing credits is nearly out, and in case you didn’t see it over the weekend, Yahoo! Movies has brought us the trailer for it.

Troy Nixey’s remake of the 1973 TV movie Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison as a family that moves into a house and finds that they are not alone. (Ooooooh.) It’s creepy fun stuff, and apparently the MPAA even agrees, because gave it an R rating for “pervasive scariness.”

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark hits theaters on August 26, 2011.

UPDATED (5/31): I’ve swapped out the Yahoo! Movies video with the official YouTube one courtesy of Film District. Check out the film’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/DontBeAfraidoftheDark.)
