Trailer Watch: A Long Way Down

A Long Way Down by is the latest film adaptation of one of Nick Hornby’s books. This time, it’s adapted for the screen by Jack Thorne and directed by Pascal Chaumeil, a French director probably best known in the States for Heart Breaker with Patrick Dempsey.

The film centers around four people who meet by chance, when they all wind up on the roof of a skyscraper on New Year’s Eve intending to kill themselves, and deeply meaningful hilarity presumably ensues. Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul, and Imogen Poots star as the four strangers, with Rosamund Pike (who also appeared in the Hornby-scripted An Education) and Sam Neill as Poots’s father.

It all looks a little cutesy here in the trailer, but presumably there are some darker moments waiting, unadvertised, within.

The film opens in the UK in March; there is no US release date yet.
