The Multiplex Store is now powered by Stripe!

Screen-Shot-2014-11-18-at-10.51.46-AM

Before yesterday, the only way to use credit cards in the Multiplex Store was to use PayPal’s “Pay by credit or debit card” option, which I just learned can be a little… persnickety with some customers’ cards and/or e-mail addresses, so I’ve added direct credit card payment processing (powered by Stripe) to the Multiplex Store!

You can still use PayPal (or PayPal’s credit card processing) if you like, of course, but if you’ve had trouble using your card in the past or didn’t realize you could already use a credit card without having a PayPal account, there shouldn’t be any problems now. No need to sign up for a Stripe account; a simple, secure Stripe pop-up will complete your transaction!

Don’t forget that throughout the 2014 holiday season, if you buy BOTH Multiplex books from the store, you’ll get $10 off! And for Patreon backers at the $3 level or higher, that’s in addition to your Patreon discount!

Multiplex Store shipping rates have been reduced!

I just purchased a new shipping module for The Multiplex Store that gives me more flexibility in setting shipping and handling costs, so US customers will see much better rates on all (physical) items in the Multiplex Store. If any of you guys in the US balked at the shipping costs before, be sure to check them out now.

Books are $5 for the first one then $1.50 per additional book (rather than $5 per book), saving you $3.50 if you order two books. T-shirts are now $4 for the first shirt (any size) and $1.50 per additional shirt. And sketches and other artwork are also $4 for the first item, then $1 per additional item.

Rates for international customers are unchanged; I still use USPS First Class International’s rates as they are quoted by the USPS without any additional markup.

Now is as good as any to pick up that copy of Multiplex: There and Back Again!

Win a copy of The Art of How to Train Your Dragon 2!

The Art of How to Train Your Dragon 2 cover
Hey, everybody.

So the good folks at Newmarket Press/Harper Collins apparently heard that I liked this movie called How to Train Your Dragon, and since the sequel is on its way to theaters on June 13, 2014, they contacted me about giving away FIVE (5) copies of The Art of How to Train Your Dragon 2 to my readers. I have a copy of the first book, and it’s a gorgeous volume, and the second book should be just as great.

So here are the rules!

ON OR BEFORE MAY 1ST leave a comment below sharing your story of falling in love with How to Train Your Dragon (and if it relates to Multiplex, even better, but that won’t make any difference).

Some limitations do apply, I’m afraid: First, you must live within the United States. (Sorry — not my rule!) Second, you have to use a VALID E-MAIL ADDRESS to post your comment below, so that I can contact you. (Obviously, if you win, I’ll need your mailing address, as well.) Winners will be selected at random from qualifying entries contacted by e-mail NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 2.

You can read the full book description and enter/comment below:

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (to the Multiplex website)

Those of you playing along at home will know that thanks to the Patreon backers passing the $600/month Milestone Goal, I’m redesigning the website to remove all third-party ads entirely and to accommodate larger strip images.

There is good news and bad news about that, though. First, the vegetables: The complete site redesign is going to be a little delayed. It’s a bit more work than I have time for, because of grad school, unfortunately. But I will get to it as soon as possible.

BUT… the good news is that as a temporary measure, I’ve removed the third-party ads from the comics pages (including the homepage), although they remain on other pages of the site because removing them would break the site layout. They’ll disappear in due time, though. This temporary redesign was the simplest solution, and it removes the ads from the vast majority of the website.

I’ve also increased the size of the current — and future — strips to 900px. That’s 25% bigger! I’ll be updating the older strip images, too, as time permits. This benefits ALL Multiplex readers, whether they read on the website, the RSS feed, or the Multiplex iOS appThe Milestone Goal was announced for 900px images, but I’ve settled on 960px wide for the new site. 900px is just the largest I can make them with the current site design. Other features of the new website include a responsive layout (to play better with mobile devices) and retina display detection (to provide even larger images to displays capable of showing them).

Thank you VERY much to all of the patrons at Patreon for helping make this happen, thank you to my programmer Daniel Farrelly for devoting so much of his time and work to Multiplex, and thank you for reading!

UPDATE: I’ve updated all of Chapter 34 to the 900px size now.
