Trailer Watch: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a stupid concept (from screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, based on his own novel), from the director of at least one kind of stupid film (Wanted’s Timur Bekmambetov)  and yet, this trailer looks a lot more fun than it has any right to be. What’s going on?

The film stars Benjamin Walker stars as Honest Abe and will be released (in 3D) on June 22, 2012.

No Mary Elizabeth Winstead footage? Bummer.

You’ll notice that Lincoln doesn’t always have a beard. It’s this rigorous attention to the tiniest period details that gives me confidence in the accurate portrayal of his vampire hunting exploits.

  3. Stupid concept? You’re a bit of a party pooper, haha.

The concept itself sounds kinda goofy, but if you actually read the book, it’s REALLY well executed. It reads like a Lincoln biography. Except with vampires. I don’t feel like I even need to give a “you have to get past the first few chapters” disclaimer, because you really don’t. If you read the first chapter and don’t like it, it’s not your thing, but otherwise I can guarantee at the very least an entertaining read.

    Been removed.  Pity.
