Hi, my name is Dismissive Snob.Â I’d like to talk to you today about some topic you might care about, but one that I don’t care for.Â That being said, I’d like you to know I have no real knowledge of this topic, but feel like my opinions are both valid and necessary to be shared.Â That thing you care about is crap.Â Not necessarily for any reason that requires me to legitimately critique it, but because it sounds really cool for me to call it crap.Â Like I said, I really don’t know anything about this thing, its history, or more importantly, its historical context.Â I only need to view it with the tiny lens I like to call ‘my current, uninformed perspective.’Â Lucky me, this internet thing allows me the impunity to do just that, even as it provides me the easiest and fastest of quick research tools I might have utilized to form this opinion.

I sorry, I guess my wink wink nudge nudge doesn’t come across over the internet without actually saying “wink wink nudge nudge.”

I used to not like the idea of Captain America, but that was before I had really read anything. I’m Canadian and I don’t care much for in-your-face flag waving, but I think the character is really just the same as any other: being the best you can be to overcome evil. He just happens to do it representing America. Maybe this film might be “ideological trash”, but I haven’t seen it yet. If it is that would be unfortunate, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Really? You think Germans didn’t enjoy the Glorious Basterds? Cause what, they’re still all Nazis? Newsflash – Nazi Germany is something from the far past which people are glad they never had to be there.

The reason they probably won’t like this movie – I’m not German, in case you assumed – is the ideological trash mentioned above… the whole “I’m Captain America, we’re all so great, so I drag up in an effin’ flag and use a shield that looks USAish too.”.

At least that’s what I thought when I was around 9, and I’ve still got the same opinion.

They mention in the trailer that Hydra is “a Nazi deep science division,” so while there may not be swastikas everywhere (at least in the trailer), they are still Nazis. More or less.

I think it’s important to note he’ll be fighting Hydra, not Nazis. That way even Germans should be able to enjoy this flick.

There are a lot of mild spoilers here, so unfortunately it feels like a lot of scenes are ruined for me, but I must say that they were great scenes and I look forward to seeing the full cut of them.

Another thing I noted was how they were able to really get across Cap’s strength. The shot of him running and the one of him uppercutting with his shield felt like he was doing it with super strength, not just as a guy in great shape, while also not looking to cheap camera-tricky.

I wonder how the hell are they going to sell this piece of ideological trash to the rest of the world. Of course, fun, explossions, superheroes, I`m all for it. But it doesn`t stand a minimal razionalitation.

It looks like something I have seen before countless times, storywise, except for the Nazis. I think, as someone who is not American, the whole “Captain America” thing is generally a bit annoying. But I guess it’s fun and if I have to sit throught this to finally get to the Avengers, then so be it.
