I’ve seen the three Scandinavian films and the stage play adaptation of the first book, but haven’t read the books themselves.

The trailer certainly looks a lot like the original films, and it was a bit strange to see the Swedish “polis” cars, and the “Sjöströms livs” convenience store in a trailer for an American film.

Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist seems like a good choice – his performance will probably be quite different from that of Michael Nyqvist who played the part in the originals.

As to the point of remaking the film, I think Scott Zank gives a good reason in his comment about his dislike of subtitles. Apart from that there’s the budget – I seem to recall the first film being one of the most expensive Scandinavian films ever, but that is easily trumped by a Hollywood production.

I think the trailer looks great, and I’m looking forward to seeing the film – fortunately it’ll come out at the same time on both sides of the pond, so I won’t have to wait any longer than you guys.

And did you watch the red band version that was around the web. There’s some heavy fuckin’ in it. Rooney Mara is practically naked on the international POSTER, there’s gonna be so much sex in this.
