Such small changes can make a different impression. It looks good, but, isn’t it more work? Still I’ll love to look at a finished comic this way.

Definitely more work than just the regular approach, but I’m thinking I would play with this for promotional stuff, eBook covers, that kind of thing. I try to push my “lighting” farther for those sorts of images, and shading with Photoshop is a lot faster than shading in Illustrator, so it actually saves me a bit of time there. The drawback, of course, is it’s no longer pure vectors if I do this.
